I wonder. None of the men in your list were mere workers. Likely, no worker in slave economy can bring about a desired change in society. More likely, the poor guy must have changed so many times as to be irrecognisable to himself.
Again, it is moot, if men can be really happy with any woman except when he has no love for her. For that, however, he should be content with the love he has for himself. Which "worker," would be content any which way ?
The depth in anything people are inclined to say should make them less glib. But it doesn't happen that way...
