Mando's problem extends to much academic work. The definition of postmodernism became 'postmodernism is incredulity towards metanarratives' - Lyotard actually prefaced that with 'oversimplifying to the extreme' - but academics often just copy rather than go to original text. Jesus was a carpenter - though the original word may have meant architect and so on. And definitions themselves often neglect half of what they may mean.
