Time is a strange concept. And our universe's time began with the big bang from within non-time. A true yingyang situation. They are two distinct realities the origin of the Soul lies within the non-time reality, returning there upon the death of the body shell that allows it to function in the time reality.
When you examine time carefully you will find there is only the present. It is the exact moment in which we exist. The mature is only a possibility with choice but does not exist. The past ceases to exist becoming a record or recording within non-time.
Upon death offer body, the Soul returns to normal state within non-time fully aware of it's dharma including the individual soul's karma. Taking its place within the great Mandela.

"our conscience becomes very aware that time no longer exists" ...at the time of our death.
I'm having trouble with this statement. Perhaps I'm not sure of your meaning. Whether you believe in an "afterlife" or not time doesn't cease to exist. It began with the Big Bang and will exist forever. I happen to think in most cases consciousness ends at time of actual death. Blood/oxygen stops getting pumped adequately to the brain and it shuts down. Pulmonary function fails shortly before heart stops in most cases. Bucket is kicked. Farm bought. Daisies soon to be pushed.

what do you think happens at the time of our death?Well that question is really interesting because it leads one to think there is in fact an actual "Time of death". I think the first thing that happens is that our conscience becomes very aware that time no longer exists. What becomes of "us"?"Us" meaning corporate humans or an individual? If we go on, how do we relate to those we leave behind,We can't relate. If we could death and life would be the same thing.especially immediately following death?--
