Yes, I`lll give it a crack. To me the sentence makes you think. Everything has more than one side to it, more than one truth.
The face of this sentence says that philosophy is useless. The gullible people readily agree. Except for some gullible people who are arrogant and therefore ignorant and think that they are smarter than the other gullibles because they "philosophize". They get a bit hyper when they read this statement because it threatens their arrogance.
On the deeper side, not so clear to everybody, the sentence makes you think about existence. Some people regard death as stopping to exist. Becoming nothing.  But "nothing" does not exist, so how is it possible to believe that we could become nothing when we die.
Having said that, I think that the sentence is mostly a useless sentence as all it does is weed out arrogant hypocrites that like to provoke and make a lot of noise when they read it. I suggest that we treat this as a misunderstanding and get on with discussing Molly`s question about "death"..

Anyone want to take a crack at this and care to explain what this says to Allen since I am not smart enough to?

Allen@ "You need to be careful believe me there are people in the group that are much smarter than you are."

Wow Allen, you keep a list of peoples intelligent quotas?   Can I see everyones' rating so I can best communicate with them?   Or, just list some of the names of the smarter ones so I can be more cautious about my sayings.

Thanks

Tony, a lot of people disagree with me for maybe I disagree with them, but that does not mean they are wrong.
There are computer corrections that slip by unnoticed by me. You wrote " Philosophy is good for nothing, that is a good thing, since nothing doesn't exist!" (™)" that blatant statement leaves me wondering why your interest in the group. Now to me that is saying you despise philosophy and theology.

As for the trademark default thing. :-)  you are treading in a very dangerous area,  if your birth certificate reads "Tony"  you might be able to get away with it once. You are using an international symbol the has a specific legal meaning. Violating that meaning can land you in a whole lot of very expensive hot water. I know the dark seedy side of life. It is best to avoid trouble. I would suggest getting TM off default.
It can save you a lot of grief..

ME is an international discussion group and many members English is not their mother language, so you need to cut a lot of slack. You need to be careful believe me there are people in the group that are much smarter than you are.

Enjoy the group.

Wow, so many questions!  No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!  But it is all good.

If looking is good for nothing, why are you wanting to be part of this group ME
I am not "wanting" to be a part of the group…I am a part of the group.

ME's very philosophical by its nature.
That's what I love about it, most here appear to have an open mind, or at the very least, an organic intellect.

Is your soul desperately searching for some meaning your life?
No.  I do like to search things out though.  I've always enjoyed a good puzzle or problem to solve.

Why are you using the international symbol for trademark as your initials?
It's a default
Do you own that symbol or has it been issued to you?
My Mother issued me those initials.
Do you even realize improper use of the trademark is illegal in many  countries?
No that is valuable info I will keep that in mind when I travel.  Make sure it is not on my luggage.

What I think Tony is you have many spiritual issues to resolve, so that can be an atheist.
You are certainly free to think whatever you like, dissent is welcome.

If you want to be artist be atheist you don't have to pretend.
I am having some difficulty translating this.  Are most artists atheists?

If you want to learn something open your mind , that is the starting point.
The starting point is opening ones heart, then the ego then the mind.  People can acquiesce and still appear to be open minded.

You have to remember you joined us we didn't join you. Besides from what I am reading you and Andrew are a perfect match. :-)
The group is interactive an supports input from many people and ideas.  Your point about "who joined who" is irrelevant.   Perfect for what?

You are an interesting and dynamic person Allan.   Keep frosty.
