You can look at the big bang of our universe like a birth. A union of a very small sperm and egg (too small to see) "grows" into a very large adult. Nature is chaotic. The patterns we see it its largest level are very similar to the patterns we see at its smallest level. "Space" is just a stage to move and grow in and "time" is just a measurement of moving.  If that is too simple for you, then you can use Einstein`s mathematical modeling of it.

The are saying they have found the remnants of the very first moments of this universe. I am listening program that is saying the big bang came from a point that is smaller than a single atom.

Odd to me that would be evidence that our universe came from within a being greater than this  universe?  How can you explain the increase of matter contained within the universes as we normally perceive it? Its mass is far beyond the size of a single atom.
