Re: Mind's Eye Re: windows 8.1

just spent the last two hours looking through old data sticks..  I was right I found an older version of focus writer that had the spelling dictionary attached..  Good thing it is the portable version as it was easy to restart in widows 8  at last I have a reasonable editor for writing on thie note book..  I don't like the new editors..I was looking at one and when I tried it it lasted me about ten minutes before I installed it.
It seems like computer programs have become poorer..  I looked at Microsoft's internet explorer and in language options the only english option was british.. I know England is just a hope skip and a jump away from where I am living but why is there not more english choices..  i know windows 8 there are several including international..  when I started up my note book for the first time the keyboard was set for british  and the key board did not function right.
Personally I think that England and the Netherlands feel that they are truly major players in the world scene ..  well I am amazed at the number of medals the Netherlands has taken in the winter Olympics,
Oh well at least I have a what to me is a usable editor to scribble with..  am going to look in to your recommendation for linux Neil.. offered to send a cash donation (I do not use paypal) they do not accept cash ..  what kind of Irishmen are they?  Hans was saying that the next edition of windows 8 will be much more like windows 7..

My use of the internet has radically changed, I download free books. For reading off line. Picking up email and I play one online hidden object type .  Occasional search and ' my favorite shopping place "marktplaats" Dutch eBay it has been around much longer than eBay and you can find almost anything there, fun to snoop.
I use my phone and tablet for email and reading plus for writing and I am preferring being off line. Plus my phone for pictures.

Oddly get the feeling that I am not alone not liking to be online.  OK well off line I go as soon as this is finished,
Bye

My husband likes linux, and prefers in on the computers he uses his diagnostic software on. My main computer at work is a MacPro, and I have learned to prefer it over the windows based computers I use to run the video boards.  Technology changes so quickly that investment seems constantly required and we can't really buy the latest for a couple years or more.  I am still waiting impatiently for graphene applications to hit the market for us common folks: http://www.extremetech.com/tag/graphene

LOL a good Irish company are you sure you are okay Neil..  looked at the sight  and will give it some serious thought. I have run the unbuntu form of linux  and liked it,, but the newer versions are not to my taste they are no longer fun and difficult to use..  I think they grew to big..
with a friends help I have managed to get widows 8 running semi okay..  Hans has a computer service company  and is an old friend.  He said they are going to be getting rid of the opening screens as they realize it was a mistake..  or at least give the choice.
am looking at google plus.. and figuring out how to get rid of it..
O like the computers I have now..
Am not sure what it would take to alter the google android linux   to another linux system..

I junked Windows 8.1 and now use Linux (zorin 7 which looks like W7).  It's free, a bit quicker and took about 2 weeks to get used to.  I have to confuse my Dell printer into thinking its a Xerox through a system called CUPS.  Next I intend to de-Google.

mostly set up problems.  I like to think I am in control (am not really (intuitive knowledge Gabby)).  I was semi surprised at the crashed system ..  At heart I can not help but wonder if I am a minimalist. I was thinking of Neil's problems with 8 when he started. Still have a major problem with the touchpad  it does not want to turn off.  but I will get Hans to deal with that Saturday he will be here for dinner anyway and said he would help me anyway.

Am is a feud with Google NL  made a comment on their activities on a social website,,  now I am bombarded with legal documents that unless I agree with their slick willy activities they are denying me service..  they will no longer let me play my solitary game on my phone. a deck of cards still works..  lol  I can not help but wonder if that is not me having mental issues.. LOL  (",)

My old computer was on its dying breath,, so I bought a new one yesterday. finally got it functioning after having to completely set it up three times and then when I updated the program only to have it crash. 27 hours later I finally got it running.
