I am using Adblock myself. It blocks ads but allows for content items when I use it in its standard configuration. The blue eye remains visible on the website.
If you cannot delete it in the welcome message field, I suggest you contact Chris to have it removed.

Just on the ME logo eye bit - I can't find any management tools to move the thing. I have rid my own copy of the symbol via Adblock - and thus never see the offending item.
