Hi Molly,
I guess there are a couple of ways you could take this. You could focus on it as a grossly sexist remark. Or you could receive it as an unguarded confession of the role that sexual attraction plays in our lives, especially if your mind is at least partially fueled (some would say poisoned) by testosterone. I chose to accept the latter. And I can't honestly take it another way. Before blindness entered my life, I was very busy scoping out cute guys, and was probably no better than het guys ogling women. Besides that, I'm the new kid on the block, and don't really see myself clobbering other list members for their sins. (At least not yet.)
I'm glad to meet you, Molly.

Thanks, Gabbydott! I'm usually loquacious at this kind of thing, but I think I'm going to sit it out for a little while longer and just observe. I've got to say, this is one of the more articulate groups I've yet seen on the Web.

Hello and welcome Bill! Yes, this could be just the right group for
you. We are all blind, gay and merry in one way or the other here. At
the moment we are discussing the similarities between the poetic and
the political YOU and how that relates to the ME construct. Feel free
to add your fantasies!

Hello All,
I've recently joined this group and have read with interest a number of
posts. From what I can tell, this is an extremely high wattage
membership, and I look forward to matching that brilliance, if I've got
the mojo, and I'm not sure that I do.
As for me, I'm a blind gay 46 year old writer living in Steilacoom,
Washington, very close to Puget Sound. I'm affable, liberal, and more
than a little cerebral in the right company. I'm currently working on
my second (unpublished) novel, which is a fantasy about a toymaker who
learns that the Archangel of Light has been imprisoned in a tower by his
wicked king, with the assistance of twelve evil and thoroughly
unpleasant sorcerors. When I'm not doing that, I enjoy listening to
books on my Victor Reader Stream, trying local sushi bars and playing
with my hilarious cat, Dickey.
I've come to this group with the hope of engaging in some thoughtful
conversation. I'll happily deal with it if the discussion becomes
passionate, though I'm not spoiling for a fight. Anyway, I'm blind --you
don't want to pick on a blind guy, do you? Heh heh.
Here's giving you all a smart salute and a courteous tiny bow.
yours,
--Bill
