Kashmir Council EU condemns killings of youth in IHK
Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed has condemned continued torturing and killing of Kashmiri youths by the Indian forces in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).
The 20-year-old victim, Aqib Ahmed, was beaten to death without any provocation by the personnel of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force at its Balpora camp, Tuesday. Another Kashmiri youth namely Hilal Ahmad Dar was also tortured to death in Bandipura area last week. In a statement from Brussels, Ali Raza Syed said that the shocking murders of the Kashmiri youth were the most terrible kind of state terrorism as Indian forces are enjoying blanket immunity under draconian laws.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU said, such murders are extra judicial killings in Indian Held Kashmir and the Indian troops are involved in the heinous crimes in IHK.
He added that it is true that the Indian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) still remained in effect as a draconian law, which provided the Indian troops exemption from prosecution for such criminal acts committed by them.
The AFSPA allowed security forces to fire on any person and to arrest any person against whom reasonable suspicion exists without informing the detainee of the grounds for arrest.
He further said, the Public Safety Act (PSA) is also a rule of targeting the people and under this Act the authorities could detain a person without charge or judicial review for as long as two years. It maintained that the family members were not allowed access to the detainees in jails.
International Community should force India to repeal draconian laws including Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Indian Held Kashmir (IHK). The India should be pressurized to stop human rights violations such as extrajudicial killings and widespread torture as thousands of un-named mass graves discovered in different areas of IHK, Chairman Kashmir Council EU urged.International community should pay special attention on the mass graves issue and bring the Indian forces involved in the crime to the court of justice. International rules should be adopted against Indian culprits involved in the crimes against the Kashmiris.
Ali Raza Syed appealed the International Community to take necessary action against the large scale human right violation in Indian Held Kashmir.
