Vote for our Great War Collections in the EngageU Awards

Dear All

You may remember that a few years ago we (University of Oxford) ran
the very successful Great War Archive initiative (www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/
ww1lit/gwa
). We asked members of the public to scan and digitise items
they had from the First World War and upload them along with their
story to a website, or bring them into one of our roadshows where we
qould digitise the items for them. The success of this model caught
the European Libraries' eye, and the initiative is now being run
accross Europe as Europeana 1914-1918(http://www.europeana1914-1918.eu/
en), with roadshows in Germany, Luxembourg, Dublin, Slovenia, Belgium,
Italy (more partners to be announced). All materials are made freely
available online for others to use in their teaching, learning and
research. So far we have engaged thousands of members of the public in
5 different countries, collecting over 30,000 scans, all pieces of
history that were at risk of being lost forever.

If you think this is a worthy project for an award, please vote for us
in the EnagagU Awards (European Competition for the Best Innovations
in University Outreach and Public Engagement). It's not much but these
wards always help us to get funding to deliver other high impact in
the area.

Many thanks!
