Cheers!! I spoke with my publisher today and have re-checked the
website and it now DOES allow for pre-ordering. I've also confirmed
with him that he will share the list of names of people who have
ordered books so that I can check for people I know and those that are
in the acknowledgements. When I run across you, I'll make sure the
books are personalised with a signature and short message. By all
means, tell everyone you know to buy a copy--the more the merrier.
I'm not being greedy, but I have to survive. LOL!! At this point in
time, I've got about £20 left to my name and am going to be selling
(or trying to sell) some of my books tomorrow. It's the life of a
starving artist, although I have little doubt it will turn around.
Being this close to completely broke will ensure that I truly
appreciate the money when it does come.
Now I've already started the second book (which I've probably
mentioned before), 'Lilith', which is a fiction novel (with every
opening for a sequel) will weave all sorts of mythologies together and
bring in the biology behind shape-shifting. I'm hearkening back to
the ancient Sumerian myth about humans being a creation of the
Annunaki (Star People) that crash landed on Earth and mixed their own
genetics with those of the indigenous anthropoids to create Homo
Sapiens. Lilith, of course, was an early experiment, as were
centaurs, fauns, merpeople and all those hybrid species we read about
in myths. The hero of the book will be a return of King Arthur to
save Britain from the threat of Lilith.
The hardest part of writing it is that I'm planning to stick to a
similar style that John Steinbeck used in 'The Grapes of Wrath', where
every other chapter has dialogue and every other chapter is purely
descriptive. This will enable me to unveil the duplicity when someone
says one thing (in a chapter containing dialogue) but means something
quite different (as revealed in a descriptive chapter).
I'm also going to have loads of Arthurian legend coming through as
many characters will have their Arthurian counter-parts. Plus, the
main characters are going to have encounters with such characters as
Gwyn-ap-Nudd, Ceridwen, Hephaestus (as 'Festus Wayland', now living
under the Wayland Smithy) and Chiron the centaur. Each of those
characters will impart something required in order to defeat Lilith
and the three main characters Luke (the Arthur character), Perry
(short for Percival) and Jenny (Luke's girlfriend and a direct
bloodline descendant of the High Druid line and the 'Guinevere'
character) will have to figure out all sorts of clues.
This will be my attempt to do both science-fact and science-fiction,
much in the same vein as Isaac Asimov, who I greatly admired. Ah
