Hoi Don
The Weasel Bush well it is a intense dislike especially a dis like for political thieves..
Years ago I went though trade retraining because of work related injuries. That is how I became a silver smith.. Went down to Wyoming and actually found a good location to set up a jewelry shop complete with its own built in apartment.. I would have needed a small business loan to help me get every thing set up and running..
The realtor was a Veteran and was helping with the paper work.. It turned out the Weasel Bush and his buddy Chaney (While Daddy was president) got into the small business funds of Wyoming and manage to get all of them so the Weasel could drill and oil well.. it was in an area where 8 well were already drilled and all of them were dry including the one Bush drilled.
I think small business administration is an excellent program,, but I really do object to it being used to line a persons pockets with gold at the taxpayers expense,, Even more so when the government rip off is done with purely political connections..
I would have never known this except i tried to get a SBA grant. The realtor found out though his connects what happened to the funds.
Now you know,, it is not 2nd hand information as it happened to me..
It has left an even greater dislike and distrust for all politicians,, now it is their actions that I look at.. And the Spin doctors the professional people following politics ,, they put out what they are paid to say.. Promotion Promotion, promotion.. I don't buy what the spin doctors say any of them hey are like the people reporting on he stock market before the crash,, they did not have a clue.
Now Don I think should know my dislike.. and why..
Allan
Truth is I pay little heed to what politicians of any faction or
stripe say anymore. I do listen and pay attention to the pundits.
Those that make a living watching and studying past and present
politics and economics. All the folks I respect freely admit Bush's
excessive spending contributed to our current mess. His medicare
boondoggle first and foremost. I have no issue with admitting the
obvious but what I would like to do, or more precisely what I'd like
politicians to do is LEARN from them. Unfettered Capitalism leaves too
many in the cold and unable to survive during the inevitable down
cycles. Cradle to grave Socialism destroys the work ethic and breeds
dependency and apathy. We need something in between. IMHO, much closer
to the unfettered side then the Mommy side. We clearly disagree Allan
but that doesn't mean I don't understand your resentment of Bush et
al. I think perhaps your judgement may be clouded with unreasoning
dislike and a failure to recognise intent. All in all, we are where we
are because of us. Not one man or even one party or one philosophy is
at fault here. We have a conflict of Zeitgeist in this country.
We have this wonderful tool the Internet where we can learn all about
cause and effect and human nature and historical reactions to unfair
taxes/regulations and yet still our leaders make the same mistakes.
Why? Because it gets them reelected. Keeps them in that 6 mpg
bulletproof Hummer so they can go to all the Global Warming marches in
safety. Drinking Dom Peregnon and eating Beluga whale caviar and
getting 500 dollar haircuts on the tarmac. But dammit, we need the
hard workers out there to pay more taxes. We have to send Jr. to
school to get a degree in Political Science and all that studying
required will make him too busy to hold down a job don't you see?
The rich are fleeing in droves. Obama's possibly politically expedient
speeches against "the rich"(those making over 250k) are actually very
dangerous for our future tax revenue. Some well heeled Chinese
thinking of coming here to escape China's thickening iron curtain may
decide instead to go to Singapore. Or Austria. Or some Caribbean
Island. We aren't first on the list anymore and there's plenty of
"blame" to go around for that. First and foremost being unreasonable
corp. taxes and sometimes silly EPA regulations. The irony here is we
could be on the verge of another 20 year run of huge profits and
massive advancement in medical, energy and electronic fields. If ONLY
government would remove the jackboot off our necks and let us make a
few mistakes. The private sector, unlike the public, can learn from
these mistakes. Just don't subsidize risk out of the equation like we
did with the banks and insurance companies and big car companies and
select "green" energy companies.
Politicians seldom think past their own noses and this lack of
foresight is destroying us. Life is messy. You can't save everybody.
Just remove some of the more onerous impediments and allow us to save
ourselves. We can do it. We've done it before.
