Re: Mind's Eye Re: comforting lie

Governments, especially politician are notorious at lies.  the governments hide everything they can and that is done by employees,, and people do the accepting and are not willing to remember the lies of the past..

I hear about the deficit and how bad it is by the republicans are saying  but they are not saying that the majority of it and the republican party created,, form Reaganomics through the private wars of the Weasel (appointed president) Bush.    then blame the other people who are having to straighten out their mess.. Voting for tax breaks for themselves and their friends while balancing the budget on the backs of the poor and retired..
denying the responsibilities for their actions.

These are the comforting lies that fuel the government. distorted to meet their personal desires.. Religions are not any better.  The list goes on and on  all saying they believe but their actions say something totally different.

The real question is how long will people follow the war torn and starvation filled comforting lies. The same ones in different forms they have followed for eons.
Unchanging comforting lies.

The problem with comforting lies is dealing with the fallout when the truth comes out as it inevitably does. I understand there are a few banks with some splainin to do with regard to manipulations of the LIBOR. No doubt their goal was for the benefit of mankind and to prevent panic and so forth and had nothing to do with personal advancement. The public should keep this in mind while sharpening the guillotines

That said, I still tell my son everything will be fine and we're in no danger of a third world war and all people are the same blah, blah, blah. Yes, I am a liar. I also enable his belief in God. Comforting lies. I do this to keep him from worrying and with the full realization that if he knew what I knew he'd not be able to do anything about it anyway. He's completely dependent on me and will be until I die. I know he couldn't take care of himself if he had to. Which gets me to thinking. Is this why our governments fail to disclose what's really going on economically and internationally? Do they think we're all a bunch of mentally disturbed slow learners and need their constant guidance?

Some probably do believe this but most do it to cover their asses and get reelected and keep that sweet spigot spewing tax payer's dollars. They never admit mistakes and so therefore continue to make them while jet setting across the world spreading their "message" as the world burns. The new news in the Johnson family is we're now all firmly on the Federal Teat suckling along with over half the other citizens of this once fine nation. I've found various legal ways to avoid paying almost all my income taxes while my folks are heavily using Medicare and my son just went on SSI and will soon be on Medicaid. I felt forced into doing it and I feel a little dirty but it's saving me money and I may need every dime very soon.

It's a brave new world.
