Re: [Mind's Eye] predictions at New Year

The USA will continue to print the dollar like it's going out of style. Which it is. Iran will show some form of serious aggression toward a Western counrty. The stock market will continue to swing up and down like a runaway rollercoaster on acid and will end the year up slightly(6 or 7 percent) but hardly enough to compensate for the rapid inflation we're suffering due to bad fiscal policy. There will be surge right before the Nov. elections as it becomes more obvious that the GOP will defeat the incumbent. The Al Gore model of Global Warming as End Of Days falling sky apocalypse will become even more of a terrible, embarrassing memory for the Liberals. Our Energy companies will finally get the ok to start drilling in new territory. The Canadian pipeline will also get the go ahead. Various elderly and/or sick famous people will die.

The fireworks around Big Ben and the London Eye were spectacular this
New Year.  This is unusual - despite Guy Fawkes we do fireworks
badly.  We also host the Olympics - that celebration of getting away

had a great tradition in distance running, with our best converted
milkmen beaten by blood-doped Scandinavians in the final after they
were dumb enough to set Olympic records in the heats.  We have
imported a Somali this year for all events beyond 1500 metres.  I may
deign to interrupt my century at Lords to win the long jump and 100
metres dash myself - before nipping off to become King of Albania
