Again, Hitler is more difficult. We know that Manson was (and still
is), very much, into philosophy and self-realisation. I think, if you
read 'Helter Skelter', the story of the Manson muders form the point
of view of the prosecuting attorney, Vincent Bugliosi, you'd be more
likely to accept that Manson had, indeed, investigated his true
nature.

As to what a true nature is, in a sense, that's easy. If you act and
feel no guilt, you are acting in accordance with your true nature.
Some may say that the above statement justifies crimes. It only does
so by admitting that God's will is maintained irrespective of the
act. We MUST remember that good and evil are perceptions based on a
limited context and a profound lack of omniscience. God does not
suffer from these losses and performs acts that we, in our limited
minds, view as 'evil'. The improper view, though, is ours. God knows
what God is doing and God can be completely trusted. If there exists
any seeming unfairness, then that unfairness will be overturned in our
afterlife. God is perfectly Just, but we have little idea of what
'perfect justice' looks like. On thing, though, is for sure, an
omnipotent and omniscient deity MUST be just and merciful. Revelation
(if we wish to use it as evidence. Note: it is NOT scientific
evidence; but it could still be viewed as evidence) has informed us
that God's mercy precedes God's wrath, so, even in the worst cases,
not all hope is lost as Dante may have us believe.
