Mind's Eye Re: War, good god y'all, what is it good for?

What facilitator said. 

If someone is attacking you, financially or physically, you must respond. Parley first and if/when that fails it's war. If you lose you are generally cowed into submission and pay restitution(unless your enemy is the USA in which case we rebuild your schools and factories and give you advanced weapons to use against us later)  or you stop your hostilities and go home to lick your wounds thus leaving the offended party alone. For now. I understand perfectly well why the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I also understand why we were blockading them. I understand Iran's Manifest Destiny and I understand Israel's concern. I totally get why Joe wants Steve's stuff. Or wife. Wives in some cases. I get even better why Steve really, really doesn't want to let go of his stuff. Ok, maybe some of his wives.......to be resolved diplomatically hopefully but if not....war. 

The problem with terrorism is there's no resolution. More Jihadists jump out of the sand to take the place of the dead ones. All we can do is keep killing them and disrupting their plans as much as possible. Also, I think it might be a good idea to try to keep nukes out of their arsenal. Whadaya say Obama? Who's with me? 

One thing I almost never do is over think a problem. That's why I like facilitator's answer.

We go to war in a variety of ways, big to small. daily (some of us), in interpersonal ways, and over decades, as the human race. Why?
